hi, i'm adelle!

i am a toronto-based artist that grew up in hamilton, ontario. the themes of my life are ever-present in my pieces, and i love to portray the lows and highs that i am feeling. my own personal thoughts on life, and life after death, are intwined in my pieces.

growing up in a more rural environment, i was and continue to be so inspired by the shapes and patterns that exist in nature, and love to incorporate that into my work. growing up surrounded by horses, fields, and sunflower patches were only a few of the things that crafted me into the artist i am today. when I'm not in the studio, you'll find me outside in the sun with a good book :)

artist's statement:

to me, things feel incomplete if there is not some added element of texture present. this is something that I have felt from the very beginning of my mixed media journey, and have continued to maintain even today. through my work i reveal personal revelations and experiences that i have had, especially in the realm of mental health, grief, and femininity. i enjoy using a variety of mixed media techniques and collage practices to create my pieces.

my favourite medium to work with is found objects- this can include scraps of paper, dried plants, buttons, or pieces of fabric. i tend to incorporate these found objects in with my acrylic or oil paint practice. this allows me to fully express myself using any means necessary- i love the feeling of not being limited to one particular medium or technique.

i enjoy working with non-traditional materials to portray untraditional messages. i enjoy working in tiny details, so that my art is an experience for the viewer. the closer you looks, the more of the story you unlock- the more of me you unlock. to me, the main goal is evoking emotion- for someone to leave an exhibition more thoughtful than when they showed up.

thanks for being here!

love always,

adelle
